BloqSens AG Awarded DFINITY Grant to Advance the Digital Battery Passport on ICP

Basel, Switzerland – 24. September 2024 – BloqSens AG, a provider of Digital Product Passport solutions, today announced that they have been awarded a developer grant of $25,000 USD by the DFINITY Foundation. The grant serves the purpose of advancing a minimum viable product (MVP) of a Digital Battery Passport running on the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP). BloqSens is realizing this MVP together with its main technical implementation partner, CoreLedger AG, a blockchain software company headquartered in Liechtenstein with offices in Cryptovalley, Zug.

This project will leverage BloqSens’ expertise in Digital Product Passports and CoreLedger’s experience in building secure and scalable blockchain applications on ICP. The Digital Battery Passport MVP aims to:

  • Enhance battery traceability and transparency: Track a battery’s journey throughout its lifecycle, from production to recycling, with immutably stored data on the DLT.
  • Improve battery sustainability: Promote responsible battery usage and recycling practices by providing a permanent record of a battery’s history.
  • Empower data-driven decision making: Provide valuable and tamper-proof insights to stakeholders across the battery value chain.

BloqSens’ CEO Peter Krummenacher says: ‘We are thrilled to receive this grant from the DFINITY Foundation. Scalability, security, and interoperability of the ICP, combined with the immutability of data on a Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT), make Internet Computer an ideal platform for developing a comprehensive Digital Battery Passport solution. We strongly believe this project has the potential to make a significant contribution to the circular economy by enhancing battery traceability, promoting sustainable practices, and enabling more efficient resource management.’
